IF only people were ready to pay tax, a flat tax regime would be very successful. Nowdays businessmen have no fear of the Income Tax departments, how can we expect to get more people to pay tax. It rather would be a loss to the government

Hi Amit: Thats an interesting article. What is your view on a flat tax regime - say 14%, (no exemptions, no deductions, period) ? It is fair and it is low. Many nations including many Eastern European nations and Russia have adopted it to their advantage and there is a debate on the in the United States about it. The advantages are:

1. Its simple 2. Its fair (everyone pays) and 3. Its reasonable (low).
