Milton Friedman Has Died
Nobel-winning economist Milton Friedman has died. For me his most impressive facet was the ability to combine empirical research and communicate sharp insights, especially in the domain of free markets. A succint encapsulation of his works is here and here. For those who know about him and those who dont know about him, here are a few video lectures 1, and 2 to cherish. You can watch the famed Free to Choose series here. And for his take on India read A Memorandum to the Government of India 1955 and Milton Friedman on the Nehru/Mahalanobis plan. Prescient! Thanks to CCS for uploading this very relevant work.
A great man, indeed.
At times I wonder, what If the suggestions in his 1955 (India) memo had been implemented.

A liberitarian in the classical tradition but one who combined empirical findings with logical reasoning. The book Price Theory-a Provisional Text is something that any starter in Economics would find indispensable. The famous line- “inflation is always and anywhere a purely monetary phenomenon……..” still rings in the ears.
